BCB extends hand for ailing Musharraf Hossain Rubel

Dhaka – Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) expanded hand for the former national cricketer Musharraf Hossain Rubel, who has been suffering from serious diseases related to a brain tumor. After the BCB board meeting, BCB president Nazmul Hassan on Saturday evening said BCB granted 1 million BDT, or 10 lacs, for his treatment.    “Musharraf is seriously ill. He needs more money for his treatment, We have decided to give him Tk 10 lac,” Nazmul told the reporters.    Rubel played five ODIs for the Bangladesh national team. He recently posted a social media status saying he wants to sell his house due to urgent need of money for his treatment.    In a post on his own social media handle, Musharraf on Tuesday said: “Now it’s time to fight against chemotherapy. I spent already about 1 crore BDT in my treatment purpose. Need another 50 lac BDT for 6 circles of chemotherapy.”    “I badly need to sell my flat. (1550 square feet) if anyone interested to buy, please inbox me and obviously, I am seeking your prayers. I am still alive only because of your prayers. May Allah forgive us all. Thanks,” he further wrote on his Facebook profile.    Earlier, in March 2019, it was revealed that the 37-year-old spinner was diagnosed with glioma, a type of tumour that starts in the glial cells of the brain or the spine.    The spinner underwent successful surgery to his brain tumour on March 17 at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore.    Due to the illness, the cricketer had fainted several times before starting the treatment which prevented him from playing cricket. It is unlikely for him to get back to professional cricket again.    Along with Musharraf, BCB also decided to help former cricketer Ramchand Goala and Bangladesh’s first national captain Shamim Kabir for their respective needs.UNB
