Dhaka – Table topper BCB North Zone lead by 397 runs with four wickets in hand against Islami Bank East Zone after day three in the 6th and final round of the four-day-match Bangladesh Cricket League at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Tuesday. Defending champion Walton Central Zone scored 184/3 in 72 overs in the 1st innings and remained at stumps after the 3rd day’s play replying to Prime Bank South Zone’s 1st innings gigantic collection of 749/8-decladred in another league match at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan Ground 3 in Savar also on Tuesday.
North Zone vs East Zone:
East Zone resumed the 1st innings on the day with overnight score of 192/7 in 61 overs and finished at 216/10 in 69.5 overs as they were forced by North Zone pace bowler Shafiul Islam’s six-for 70 runs in the innings.Overnight Mohammad Saifuddin top-scored 40 runs while another overnight batsman Rahatul Ferdous stayed for 38 in the innings. Farhad Reza captured three wickets for 38 runs while Alauddin Babu took one for 26 runs.North Zone (374 runs in the 1st innings) opened the 2nd innings with an advantage of 158 runs lead and extended the margin to 397 as they were at stumps scoring 239/6 in 68 overs on day three where number-five batsman Nazmul Hossain Shanto was at crease with unbeaten 91 runs.Shanto stayed with Nasir Hossain in the 5th pair for 141 in 33.2 overs that carried the team collection to 201/5 in 56.1 overs from 60/4 in 22.5 overs.Nasir Hossain was out for a half century of 63 runs and opening batsman Junaid Siddique added 40 runs for the side.Alauddin Babu (6) was at crease in the 7th pair when the bails were drawn for the 3rd day.Abu Jayed and Mohammad Saifuddin took two wickets each for 45 and 47 runs while Abul Hasan took one for 25 runs.
South Zone vs Central Zone:
Meanwhile, South Zone resumed the 1st innings with overnight score of 701/8 in 180 overs and declared the innings raising their tally to 749/8-d in 199.2 overs where overnight batsman Shahriar Nafees completed a double century mission with unbeaten 207 runs. Another overnight batsman Nazmul Islam stayed for unbeaten 36 runs.South Zone’s 1st innings witnessed another double century of 217 runs by Tushar Imran earlier on day two while Mohammad Mithun completed a century of 131 runs.Shuvagata Hom captured three wickets for 54 runs in the innings while Tanbir Hayder took two for 65 runs.Central Zone opened the first innings on day three and remained at stumps with 184/3 in 72 overs to trail by 565 runs on the final day of the match which likely to end in a draw.Opener Shadman Islam was batting on with 63 runs and Shuvagata Hom (1) paring him in the 4th wicket to resume the innings on the 4th day.Saif Hassan was out for a half century of 50 runs while Marshall Ayub and Rony Talukdar added 37 and 26 runs respectively.
