Rajshahi, Sept 11 – A Bangladesh Chatraa league (BCL) member of Rajshahi University unit has forcibly grabbed an allotted seat of an RU Journalist. The incident happened at Shaheed Habibur Rahman Hall of the University on Monday night.The victim was Sakib Al Hasan of Daily Asian Age also a Masters student of the Department of Law.
The accused is Minhazul islam, general secretary of BCL, Law faculty unit, and also follower of Unit president Golam Kibria. The victim said, he was officially allotted Room No. 224 of Shaheed Habibur Rahman Hall. BCL leader Minhaz along with 15 activists forced Sakib Al Hasan out of the hall and grabbed the seat illegally on Monday night. Arrogant Minhaz abused him in indecent language and tried to beat him up while victim informed the Hall provost of the matter.
Later, BCL president Golam Kibria and General Secretary Faisal Ahmed Runu of the unit came to the spot and indirectly supported the Minhaz who grabbed.
Earlier, Minhaz who has been continuously accused of seat-business occupied as many seat as possible in the hall illegally by taking tolls from individual.
Confessing the matter the accused said I went to the room with his colleagues as he was informed of a vacant seat and knew that hall administration allotted that seat to a student.
Unit president Golam Kibria said, the matter was solved at a meeting in the presence of Hall provost. You had better talk to hall provost.
Zahidul Islam, Provost of the hall, said this problem was solved after talking to the BCL leaders. The seat is still under the occupation of the accused.
On the other hand, eyewitnesses of the incident confirmed the matter of taking the seat in illegal way and uttering indecent language.
BCL Central president Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shuvon and general secretary Golam Rabbani not available for comments.
Central Office Secretary of the BCL Ahsan Habib said, i have been just informed of the matter now. I will talk to the unit president and secretary.
University Proctor Lutfor Rahman said, I am informed of the matter and will talk to provost of the hall regarding this. – RU Correspondent
