BCL: South Zone trail by 384 runs against East Zone on Day-2

Dhaka – Prime Bank South Zone were trailing by 384 runs in the first innings with six wickets in hand against Islami Bank East Zone on the 2nd day of the four-day 2nd round match of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) at the Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi on Thursday.Islami Bank East Zone resumed the first innings in the morning with their overnight score of 314 for 4 featuring a century by Shamsur Rahman (153) and were finally all out for 473 runs in the 137.2 overs, featuring another century by overnight batsman Yasir Ali.

Number six batsman Yasir Ali, who was on batting with 26 runs, played an entertaining innings of 112 runs off 174 balls hitting 12 boundaries, another overnight batsman Tasamul Haque (47) added only one to his credit scoring 48 runs off 111 balls including four fours, tail-ender Enamul Haque Junior contributed 85-ball 46 runs with the help of seven boundaries.

Veteran national coloured spinner South Zone captain South Zone Abdur Razzak, who grabbed three wickets for 111 runs on Wednesday, reached another land mark of five-wicket haul for 171 runs. Fazle Mahmud and Mahedi Hassan took two wickets each giving away 14 and 99 runs respectively.

In reply, Prime Bank South Zone opened the first innings in the afternoon and scored 89 for 4 in 40 overs to trail by 384 runs with six wickets remaining when the bails were drawn for the 2nd day (Thursday).

Number five national coloured batsman Raqibul Hasan was in the crease with 33 runs off 95 balls including three fours, number six Nurul Hasan was on batting with 19 runs off 47 deliveries with two fours while Fazle Mahmud scored 8-0-ball 29 runs hitting four fours.

Mahmudul Hasan took two wickets for 26 runs.

In the other match at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bagura, Walton Central Zone were leading by 15 runs against BCB North Zone on the 2ndday of the four-day affairs on Thursday.

Replying to Walton Central Zone’s first innings total of 220 runs, BCB North Zone resumed the first innings with overnight score of 72 for 1 in 15.1 overs and were finally all out for 225 runs in 81.4 overs.

Overnight opener Mizanur Rahman (34) hammered 81 runs off 95 balls with 10 hits to the fence and two over the fence, another night watch batsman Farhad Hossain (31) made half century scoring 108-ball 54 runs hitting eight fours, two down Naeem Islam made 149-ball 61 runs featuring six fours and one six.

Shahidul Islam made the major damage to the North Zone innings claiming six wickets for 64 runs while Moshrraf Hossain and Abu Hider took two wickets each conceding 56 and 59 runs respectively.

Walton Central opened the 2nd innings in the afternoon and scored 50 for 3 in 15.4 overs with opener Nazmul Hossain Shanto was in batting with 22 runs off 37 balls featuring three boundaries after the dismissal of Marshall Ayub (12) and Jaker Ali (9).

Mohor Sheikh, Ebadat Hossain and Ziaur Rahman captured one wicket each for 1, 15 and 24 runs respectively.UNB
