Barguna, Oct 29 (UNB) – A tribunal here on Tuesday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for raping his own daughter at Khastabak village in Patharghata upazila in 2017.
The convict was identified as Jewel Peda of the village.
Judge of the Barguna Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Md Hafizur Rahman also fined the convict Tk 20,000 and in case of failure to pay the penalty, he will have to serve six more months in prison.
According to the prosecution, Jewel, a drug addict, raped her daughter after making her unconscious by feeding food laced with sedatives on May 25, 2017 when his wife was outside.
Victim’s grandfather filed a case against him in this regard. Police arrested him from Narayanganj.
