BD swimmers to compete in FINA World Champs in South Korea

Dhaka – A five-member swimming team comprising of three swimmers and two officials will represent Bangladesh in the 18th FINA World Championship scheduled to be held in Gwangju of South Korea from July 12-28.

Of the five member team, two officials -M Abdul Hamid (Team Official) and Tapan Chanda (Congress representative) are due to leave Dhaka for Korea on Wednesday late night while three swimmers- M Ariful Islam, Jewel Ahmed and Junaina Ahmed will reach South Korea on different dates.

Ariful Islam, who is now in Paris under Olympics Solidarity Scholarship Program, will fly for South Korea on July 18, Jewel Ahmed also will fly for South Korea from Bangladesh on the same date while Junaina Ahmed will fly from London on July 20.

Two Bangladeshi male swimmers will start their campaign on July 22 with 100-meter breaststroke while lone female swimmer Junaina Ahmed will start her campaign on July 24 with 200-meter butterfly.UNB
