Dhaka – Bangladesh Under-23 cricket team will face Sri Lanka Under-23 side in the semifinal of the ACC Emerging Teams Cup at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) in Chittagong on Saturday.The semifinal battle is scheduled to begin at 9am, Bangladesh time.Bangladesh U23s stormed to semifinals stage of the eight teams meet as Group B runners-up collecting unbeaten five points from three matches, having two wins and playing tie match.UNB agencyThey started their campaign crushing Hong Kong by 8 wickets and secured another win against Nepal by 83 runs in the 2nd match, before a tie against Pakistan U23s in the last match.Sri Lanka U23s confirmed the their semifinal berth as the Group A champion collecting four points form three matches having two wins and one losses.They started their campaign with a 35-run loss against defending champion India Under-23s, but back in the race with two successive victories against Afghanistan Emerging Team and Malaysia by 35 runs and by 205 runs respectively. In another semifinal on the day, Group-B champion Pakistan Under-23s will play Group-A runners-up Afghanistan at the MA Aziz Stadium.The day night final will be held at the ZACS on Monday (April 3).India Under-23s and Malaysia eliminated from the race placing 3rd and 4th in the Group-A respectively while Nepal and Hong Kong placed 3rd and 4th in the Group B to finish their campaign.
