Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) will observe the Olympic Day Run-2013 in the capital, six other divisional headquarters and 57 districts across country tomorrow (Saturday) as part of the IOC’s global programme to popularise the Olympic movement.BOA already completed all the formalities to make the mega event a success.
As in the past, BOA has taken an elaborate two-day programme, includes sports for mentally-challenge and children, painting competition for children and seminar, beginning on Saturday to celebrate the “Olympic Day”.
Participation in the Olympic Day Run is open to all sports- loving people.
The two-day programme will begin at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) on Saturday at 9 am with a sports program for mentally-challenge and children.
The painting competition will be held on the same day at 4 pm at the BOA media center while the seminar will be held on the following day at 4 pm at the same venue. The seminar will be participated by sports lovers and organisers of different sports federations.
The Olympic Day Run, sponsored by Coca Cola Far East Limited, EXIM Bank, BSRM and ACME group, will start from Ramna National Tennis Complex at 6.30 am and terminate at the BNS gate no 1 after passing through engineering institute, Shikkha Bhaban, Abdul Goni road and secretariat.
The budget of the Day Run has been estimated at Taka 44, 09, 88 lakh.
Chairman of Olympic Day run committee Sheikh Boshir Ahmed disclosed the details at a press conference at the BOA conference room today while its acting secretary general Ashikur Rahman Miku, chairman of Olympic Day Run media committee Mizanur Rahman Manu and assistant manager of Coca-Cola Rozina Akter Khanom were present, among others.
