B’desh U-19 Volleyball Team leave for Myanmar on Monday

Dhaka – Bangladesh Youth Volleyball team will fly for Yangon on Monday (March 27) to participate in the SMM 11th Asian Boys Under-19 Yangon Aerodrome Volleyball Championship to be held in Nay Pui Taw in Myanmar from March 28 to April 5 keeping their eyes on semifinal.Twelve Asian countries, split into four groups, will compete in the nine-day tournament. Bangladesh, which was placed in strong Group B with Asian men’s champions Iran and South Korea, will play South Korea in one of the four opening day’s match at 11:30 am (local time) after the inaugural ceremony. Bangladesh will play Iran at 2 pm on March 30.General Secretary of Bangladesh Volleyball Federation (BVF) Ashiqur Rahman Miku disclosed this at a joint press conference of Asian U-19 Volleyball and National Beach Volleyball Tournament at Dhaka Volleyball Stadium on Saturday. BVF Joint Secretary Fazle Rabbi Babul, Bangladesh U-19 Coach Imdadul Haque Milan and Proprietor of Hotel Sea Uttara Khsru Chowdhury spoke on the occasion. Participating teams of Asian Boys Volleyball:Group A – Hong Kong, Myanmar and Australia,Group B – Korea, Iran and Bangladesh ,Group C – Thailand, Sri Lanka and Japan,Group D – Kazakhstan, China and Chinese Taipei.Addressing at the press conference, Head of Coach of Bangladesh team Imdadul Haque Milan said, “we are well prepared this time after a two months training session and we are looking for a semifinal berth”.Bangladesh youth team beat Army U-23 team twice and lost to Bangladesh Navy team during the practice period.Bangladesh Volleyball Federation will bear entire expenses of the tour amounting to Tk 21.69 lakh.Bangladesh Youth team: players – Sheikh Ismail Hossain Sajib (captain), Nasim Bahar, Rahmatul Islam, Nur Nabi Mollah, Tayeful Alam Faraji, Siam Islam, Ratul Halder, Al Amin, Zabir Bin Kabir, Rewanur Rahman.Officials: Kazi Abdul Hannan (Manager), Imdadul Haque Milan (Head Coach) and Asim Saha (Assistant Coach).Besides, the IFIC Bank National Beach Volleyball Tournament, organised by Bangladesh Volleyball Federation, will be held at Sugandha beach of Cox’s Bazar from March 31 to April 3.Nine teams will compete in the men’s competition and while 10 teams will take part in the women’s section.
