Beijing to deepen ties with Dhaka thru strategic partnership

China has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening cooperation with Bangladesh in all areas promoting the long-term and sustained growth of China-Bangladesh Strategic Partnership of Cooperation so as to bring more benefits to the two nations.

On the occasion of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and China, President Abdul Hamid and Chinese President Xi Jinping have sent special messages to each other, conveying sincere congratulations and best wishes.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sent a congratulatory message to Chinese President Xi Jinping conveying heartiest felicitations and warmest greetings to the government and people of China.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang have also exchanged heartiest congratulations in special messages to each other.

In his message, President Xi terms China-Bangladesh friendship as a long historical one founded on deep mutual respect, equality, strong political trust, and mutually-beneficial cooperation aiming to bring tangible benefits to the people of both the countries.

He said the two nations have written a new chapter of friendship by having each other’s back during the Covid-19 pandemic and stressed further aligning development strategies, jointly pushing forward the Belt and Road Initiative and elevating China-Bangladesh Strategic Partnership of Cooperation to new heights.

President Hamid said Bangladesh attaches high importance to its relations with China which have reached a significant height encompassing cooperation in key areas.

He hopes the cordial ties will be further strengthened in the days ahead.

Expressing great satisfaction over the sound momentum of cooperation between Bangladesh and China during the past 45 years, Premier Li Keqiang highlighted China-Bangladesh traditional friendship which has reached new heights in the common fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang also recollected Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s successful visit to China last year, and reaffirmed China’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Bangladesh in all areas and promoting the long-term and sustained growth of China-Bangladesh Strategic Partnership of Cooperation so as to bring more benefits to the two nations.

In the message to Chinese President, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the two nations established contacts more than a thousand years ago which facilitated the flow of knowledge, culture, and trade between the two ancient civilizations.

She also recalled Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s visit to China in 1952 and 1957 as well as how he appreciated the passion, commitment, and efforts of the people of China to the people of Bangladesh in his two books, “Unfinished Memoir” and “The New China As I Saw”.

Highlighting different aspects of Bangladesh-China relations today and appreciating China’s continued aid and support to Bangladesh during the Covid-19 pandemic, she envisions with confidence that the existing cordial ties will be further strengthened in the days to come.

In her message to Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, Sheikh Hasina appreciated the continued support from China for the socioeconomic development of Bangladesh and increased the volume of Chinese investment to its infrastructural development.

She also appreciated China for working with Bangladesh in resolving the crisis of the displaced Myanmar nationals, according to Chinese Embassy in Dhaka.

On the auspicious occasion of the 45th anniversary of China-Bangladesh diplomatic relations, the Foreign Ministers of both the countries have exchanged congratulatory messages.

Wang Yi, State Councilor and Foreign Minister of China, said both nations have been strictly following the five principles of peaceful coexistence and cooperation in all areas has borne remarkable fruits.

With a view to injecting a new impetus into China-Bangladesh Strategic Partnership of Cooperation, Wang Yi expressed strong willingness to continue communication and coordination with his Bangladeshi counterpart while fondly recalling their two telephone conversations this year on cooperation to fight Covid-19 and joint efforts to advance the Belt and Road Initiative.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said the Bangladesh-China friendship has increased manifolds over the four decades and particularly under the astute leadership of Prime Minister Shaikh Hasina and President Xi Jinping.

He extended sincere gratitude to China for the continued support in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic and appreciated China’s persistent engagement in creating a conducive environment in Rakhine State of Myanmar for the voluntary return of 1.1 million Myanmar nationals currently sheltered in Bangladesh.

Foreign Minister Dr Momen invited China to take proactive initiatives so that Myanmar starts the process of repatriation of her 1.1 million displaced nationals now temporarily sheltered in Bangladesh, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs here.
