BGB camp in CHT set afire as 2 killed in truck plunge at Dhangchhari

Dhaka – Two people were killed when a wood-laden truck  fall into roadside ditch while speeding away defying  signal of  Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at Dhangchhari check post of  Chandragona in Rangamati district on Thursday night.
Local people set to fire to the check post as rumor spread that one of the victim was killed in BGB firing.The Chittagong Region Commander of the BGB Brig Gen Habibul Karim told journalists that the BGB members of Dhangchhari camp under 19 BGB Battalion of Captai range gave a signal for a wood laden vehicle (Chander Gari) to stop at around 7:55 pm on Thursday night. But the driver fled the scene braking bamboo bar of the check post.
The BGB men on suspicion chased the vehicle but it frll into a roadside ditch, 500 yards away from the check post, as the driver was speeding the vehicle recklessly to escape the paramilitary force, Brig Habib said.
Local people recovered one dead body from the vehicle and rescued another one with fatal injuries and rushed him to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where he died in the early hours of Friday.
At one stage, local people took the dead body to the check post and spread rumor that the man was killed in BGB firing. Following the rumor, a large number unruly people went to the spot and put set fire on the check post, the Chittagong Region Commander said.
To bring the situation under control, the camp commander Akash Mothi fired four blank gunshots. Locall police and additional BGB memvers went to the spot and brrought the situation under control, he said.
Replying to a question, Brig Gen Habib said the two people were killed in the accident not in BGB firing as no mark of bullet was found on their bodies. – News Desk
