BGMEA teams up with Impactt to improve RMG productivity

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) on Thursday signed an agreement with leading consultancy firm Impactt to improve the productivity in the readymade garment (RMG) sector. “Impactt and BGMEA will partner to roll out the successful Benefits for Business and Workers (BBW) programme which has already improved efficiency and quality and supported better jobs for workers in 45 factories in Bangladesh,” said a media release.   “The collaboration will support the rollout of the programme to 200 garment factories in the Dhaka and Chittagong regions by December 2015,” the release added.   Speaking on the occasion, BGMEA president Atiqul Islam said, “This collaboration marks an important new stage in the transformation of Bangladesh RMG sector, we’re delighted to be working with Impactt to provide benefits to business and workers.”   Ms Rosey Hurst, chairman of Impactt Bangladesh Private Limited said, “Partnership with the BGMEA is very important to us – BGMEA’s support will enable a more competitive industry, which provides better jobs for its workers.” – UNB
