BNP leader Hafiz gets bail

Dhaka, Oct 13 (UNB) – A court here on Sunday granted bail to BNP Vice-Chairman Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Atiqul Islam granted the bail upon a bond Tk 10,000,

The court also fixed November 11 for the next hearing in the case after rejecting the remand petition filed by the sub-inspector of Pallabi Police Station Nure Alam, also the investigation officer (IO) of the case.

The IO sought a seven-day remand for him.

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested BNP Vice-Chairman Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday evening after he arrived here from Singapore, in connection with a case filed under the Digital Security Act.

Later, the elite force members handed him over to Pallabi Police Station.
