Dhaka, Dec 14 – BNP on Friday alleged that the government has again started filing ‘fictitious’ cases against its leaders and activists by “indulging in arson-attack game”.“The government has been filing cases one after another against senior BNP leaders over the week. They’re accusing the deceased and our imprisoned leaders in those cases. The government has again begun filing fictitious cases as it has no issue, playing an arson attack game,” said BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
He came up with the remarks while speaking at a press conference at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office.
On Wednesday, miscreants set three motorcycles ablaze in the city’s High Court area. The bikes were torched at the Mazar gate, main gate of National Eidgah and the HC gate around 4:40pm.
Two cases were filed at Ramna Police Station against 135 people, including BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in this connection.
Terming the two cases bizarre and ridiculous, Rizvi said the members of intelligence agencies torched the motorcycles as part of a government’s plan.
He condemned the filing of the ‘false’ cases against their leaders, and demanded the government to immediately withdraw them.
“Everybody knows people belong to Chhatra League, Jubo League, Awami League and the special forces of the government are carrying out such incidents in a planned way to implicate BNP leaders in different cases,” Rizvi said.
He said Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leaders Ishaq Sarker and Mostafizur Rahman have been in jail for a long time, but they were made accused in Wednesday’s motorcycle torching cases.
