BNP to start relief activities in flood-hit areas Tuesday

Dhaka, July 22 (UNB) – BNP on Monday decided to start distributing relief materials among flood-hit people at different parts of the country on Tuesday.

At a meeting of BNP’s relief committee at its chairperson’s Gulshan office, five committees were formed to carry out of the relief activities in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Sylhet, Mymensingh and Faridpur regions.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, BNP standing committee member and convener of its relief committee Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku said they formed the five committees, headed by senior leaders, to stand beside the victims as the flood situation took an alarming turn in the country.

Besides, he said, a relief committee of their party will be there in every flood-hit district. “Our relief committee will start their activities tomorrow (Tuesday). Medical teams will also work alongside the relief teams.”

Earlier, the 21-member BNP relief committee held a meeting and worked out their action plans. Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, vice chairmen Barkatullah Bulu, Mohammad Shahjahan and AZM Zahid Hossain, among others, joined the meeting.
