Dhaka – Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) arranged Olympic Day Run’ 2019 in the capital and as well as 64 district headquarters of the country on Sunday as part of global program of the founding anniversary of International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The ceremonial Olympic Day Run began at 7:30am from Bangladesh Shisu Academy and concluded at the Bangabandhu National Stadium premises in the capital.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell MP formally inaugurated the run in the morning where BOA President and Chief of Bangladesh Army General Aziz Ahmed also present as the special guest.
BOA Deputy Secretary General and Chairman of the Olympic Day Run Organizing Committee Ashiqur Rahman Miku presided over the inaugural program. Another Deputy Secretary General of BOA and member secretary of the organizing committee Asaduzzaman Kohinoor was also present.
Some 2,500 sportsmen, sports organizers, sports journalists, presidents and general secretaries of different national sports federations, student, high officials participated in the day’s event.
Later in the afternoon, the BOA also arranged a seminar, titled “Sports, Environment and Sustainable Development” at its Dutch-Bangla auditorium here.
Secretary in Charge of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Dr Mohammad Zafar Uddin was the chief guest at the seminar where BOA Vice President Sheikh Basir Ahmed was present as special guest.
Director of National Olympic Academy Mahfuzur Rahman Siddique presented the keynote paper.UNB
