Jamalpur – Six people who went missing after a boat capsize in the Jamuna River in Dewanganj upazila on Wednesday could not be traced till Thursday afternoon .The missing people are Shahid Shikder, 45, Kanchan Mala, 45, Razia Begum, 45, Akon Bibi, 65, Dulal, 30 and Nayan, 8, hailing from Char Halka Haorabari village in Dewanganj upazila.
Md Nuruddin, Senior Officer, Jamalpur Fire Service Station, said the boat carrying rice of Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme sank in the river at 7:30 pm while going to Char Halka village from Chukaibari Union.
Fire fighters and divers rescued 22 people with the help of local people, he added.Fire fighters are continuing their rescue operation.UNB
