Dhaka – A probe committee, led by additional district magistrate (ADM) Mohammad Muminur Rahman, has been formed to investigate the Banshkhali incident that left three people dead and nearly 40 injured.
The committee has been asked to submit its report within seven days, said Shamsuzaman, nirbahi officer (UNO) of Banskhali upazila.Meanwhile, three cases were filed on Tuesday in connection with the killing of three people in a clash at Gandamara village in Banshkhali upazila during a demonstration against an under-construction coal-based power plant on Monday (April 4).Kazi Abdul Awal, additional superintendent of police (District Special Branch) said the cases, two for killing and one for assault on police, were filed with Banshkhali Police Station against more than 57 named and 6,000 unnamed people in connection with the clash.
Families of three of the dead filed two cases, while police initiated another over attacks and the obstruction in government duties.
Bahar Uddin, sub-inspector of Banskhali thana , filed the police assault case naming 57 persons and 3,200 unidentified people, said Officer in charge of Banskhali thana Swapan Kumar Mazumdar.
Moulabi Shafi, a relative of two slain siblings, filed a murder case against six identified and 14 unidentified people for killing Anwar alias Angur, 40, and his brother Murtuza Ali, 42, sons of late Ashraf Ali of Uttar Charpara village during the clash .
Monwara Begum, wife of the deceased Zaker Ahmed, filed another murder case with the police station accusing 1,500 unidentified people.
Three people were killed and nearly 40 others, including seven policemen, injured in a clash between police and two rival groups at Gandamara village under Banshkhali upazila of the district on Monday.
