BPL Football: Bashundhara Kings finish top after first phase

Dhaka – Star-studded Bashundhara Kings finished top of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at the end of the first phase, after outplaying Chattogram Abahani 3-0 on Thursday at their adopted home venue – the Sheikh Kamal Stadium in Nilphamari.
Taking all three points from the day’s game, big budget Bashundhara sealed their domination of the league’s first phase as the only unbeaten team, indeed, dropping a mere 2 points as they won all but one of their 12 games, securing 34 points from 12 matches with 11 wins and a draw. Defending champions Dhaka Abahani finished 2nd on 30 points from their 12 games (10 wins and 2 losses).
In the day’s match, Bakhtiyar put the Kings ahead in first-half stoppage time (45+2 minute), Costa Rica’s World Cup squad member Daniel Colindres doubled the lead in the 78th minute, before Brazilian Marcos Vinicius added a third in the 84th minute to turn it into a canter.
The day’s other match between Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club and NoFeL SC ended in goalless draw at the Shaheed Bulu Stadium in Noakhali on Thursday.UNB
