BPL Football: Rahmatganj crush Arambagh 4-2

Dhaka – Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society crushed Arambagh Krira Sangha by 4-2 goals in their first appearance in the Saif Power Battery Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football at Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday.Forward Rashedul Islam Shuvo put Rahmatganj MFS ahead in the 15th minute by a powerful shot from inside the box, off a right wing cross from midfielder Sohel (1-0). Nigerian forward Alamli Bukola Olalekaw leveled the margin for Arambagh KS in the 19th minute by a header capitalising on a corner of Rabiul Hasan from the right side (1-1).The match was locked in 1-1 in the first half.Rahmatganj again took the lead in the 49th minute as their Nigerian defender Monday Osagie found the Arambagh net by a free kick from the top of the box (2-1).Cameroonian midfielder Ikanga Jean Juales again neutralised the margin for Arambagh KC in the 57th minute from a penalty (2-2).Rahmatganj goalie Razib brought down onrushing Ikanga of Arambagh in the danger zone and referee GM Chowdhury Nayan pointed his finger for a spot kick.Rahmatganj returned to the game in the 77th minute as their Guinean forward Ismael Bangoura scored a goal by a glancing header, utilising a cross of Rashedul Islam Shuvo from (3-2).Shuvo extended the Rahmatganj lead in the 83rd minute by a right footed shot from the box after receiving the ball from left flank (4-2).After a day of recess on Tuesday, the 2nd round matches of the 12-team league will begin on Wednesday with Farashganj Sporting Club taking on defending champions Dhaka Abahani Ltd at BNS.UNB news agency
