BPL Football: Rahmatganj force Sheikh Jamal to play 2-2 draw

Dhaka – A last-minute goal by Nigerian booter Monday Osagie guided Rahmatganj MFS to a 2-2 draw with former champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Monday.

The match locked in 1-1 goal in the first half.

With the day’s draw, the Dhanmondi outfit Sheikh Jamal opened their league account with one point in their 3rd match after losing the first two matches to Bashundhara Kings and Muktijoddha Sangsad KC while Rahmatganj MFS bagged two points from three matches.

In the match, Rahmatganj MFS took lead in the 8th minute by a left footer of Siyo Zunapio, who fired the net after dodging past Sheikh Jamal defender Ariful, off a long pass of Rabiul (1-0).

Sheikh Jamal DC managed a golden opportunity in the 20th minute to level the margin, but Rahmanganj custodian Ariful Islam saved his castle brilliantly, foiling a penalty of Solomon King.

Jamal got the spot kick when Monday Osagie fouled onrushing Sheikh Jamal’s Argentine recruit Luciano Araya in the danger zone.

Gambian booter Solomon King neutralised the margin for Sheikh Jamal in the 40th minute by a bi-cycle kick, utilising a David header (1-1).

Emaniel put Sheikh Jamal ahead in the 83rd minute, off a Solomon King pass (2-1).

When the match was almost heading for a Sheikh Jamal victory, Monday Osagie scored the match-equaliser by a diving header, capitalising on a left wing pass from Siyo Zunapio (2-2) just few seconds before the final whistle.UNB
