BPL Football: Team BJMC force Bashundhara Kings to play goalless draw

Dhaka – Bottom-placed Team BJMC made the biggest upset in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football forcing Independence Cup champions and star-studded Bashundhara Kings to drop their first point after five consecutive victories in a goalless draw at their home venue –Shaheed Bulu Stadium in Noakhali — on Tuesday.

With this, big-budgeted Bashundhara Kings remained at the 2nd slot in the 13-team league with unbeaten record securing 16 points from six matches with five wins and a draw after defending champions Dhaka Abahani Limited, which dominated the league table securing 18 points from seven matches with six wins and a loss against Bashundhara Kings.

With the day’s inspiring draw, winless Team BJMC slightly improved their position in the league table collecting three points from seven encounters.

The forwards of Bashundhara Kings failed to perform their usual skills in an unplayable ground and failed to make any fruitful attempt in the entire first half and it continued in the 2nd half too.

Besides, the Kings were reduced to 10 men in the 77th minute when national coloured defender Nasiruddin Chowdhury received red card after making a foul against BJMC Nigerian forward Samson Iliasu.

The day’s other match between two mediocre teams — Muktijoddha Sangsad KC and Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society — ended in 2-2 draw at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here.

Ballo Farmoussa scored both the goals for the freedom fighters’ team, Muktijoddha SKC, in the 14th and 20th minute before the team were reduced to 10 men as their Japanese booter Yusuke Tako got marching order in the 24th minute of the match.

Taking the advantage of the 10-man side, Siyo Zunapio and Rakhine scored two goals for the old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj in the 52nd and 56th minute respectively.

After the match, Muktijoddha SKC secured seven points from six matches while Rahmatganj MFS bagged three points playing as many matches.UNB
