Brahmanbaria goes goal glut in women’s football

DHAKA – Puja and Arifa’s brilliant hat-tricks helped Brahmanbaria district football team crush Faridpur district football team by 10-1 goals in a group B match of Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Games today at Birshreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in city’s Kamalapur.

In the day’s match, Puja slammed a brilliant hat-trick with five goals in the 7th, 25th, 46th, 78th and 84th minutes and Arifa supported her also scoring hat-trick with three goals in the 27th, 55th and 70th minutes while Shila and Afsana netted one goal each for the winners’ in the 68th and 72nd minutes respectively.

Sabina scored the consolation goal for the losers in the 89th minute of the match.

In the day’s second match held at the same venue, Magura district football team blanked Panchagarh district football team by 3-0 goals.

In the proceeding, Eshita Barou scored a brace in the 55th and 87th minutes while Arpita Biswash supported her with a lone goal in the 38th minute for Magura.

A total of eight teams- seven district teams along with Ansar and VDP, split into two groups, are taking part in the competition.

Group A – Mymensingh, Rajshahi, Khulna and Ansar and VDP football teams.
