The farmers of the district are expecting bumper production of Boro paddy in the current season.Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said, a total of 33,832 hectares of land were brought under the cultivation in five upazilas of the district this year with the production target of 1,34,707 tonnes of rice .The officials of DAE particularly sub-assistant agriculture officers in field level are monitoring the farmers to cultivate Boro paddy on a large scale to meet its demand for ensuring food security and to make the growers economically benefited as well.Deputy Director of DAE Nazrul Islam said supply of high quality seeds, favourable weather, smooth supply of water and agri-inputs and use of balanced fertilizers have raised the expectation of farmers in producing bumper yield. -BSS, Panchagarh
