Businesses across the country will stage a one-hour human chain programme on Monday demanding retention of ‘Package VAT’ in the new VAT (value added tax) law which is scheduled to come into effect on July 1 next. Dhaka, UNB News Agency Reported.
Bebosayi Oikya Forum (United Forum of Businesses), a platform of business leaders, announced the programme on Sunday.
They will form the human chains from 12pm to 1pm in front of their respective business outlets.
They also urged the government to accept the recommendations came from a joint meeting of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) and the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI).
Earlier, the FBCCI urged the NBR to reduce VAT rate to 7 percent from the existing 15 percent.
