Call Rohingya persecution genocide: Rights, faith groups

This week, Refugees International welcomed two important demonstrations of support for our campaign to urge Secretary Pompeo to call Myanmar’s crimes against the Rohingya genocide: one from a group of prominent legal and human rights experts and the second from faith groups. In a letter from human rights and legal experts to Secretary Pompeo on Tuesday, more than thirty specialists, including former high-level State Department and White House officials, said the evidence plainly shows Myanmar’s intent to commit genocide. They called upon the Secretary to make a genocide determination.
And in a letter from more than thirty multi-faith groups to the Secretary on Thursday, faith leaders showed their resolve to stand in solidarity to protect the religious freedom of the long-persecuted Rohingya people. They too called upon the Secretary to make a genocide determination.
Their call echoes Refugees International’s own petition
