Dhaka, Nov 7 – The lot of a fisherman in Kutubdia Upazila has changed overnight as he sold 81 giant poa fish for Tk 40 lakh (4 million).The fortunate fisherman is Jamal Uddin, son of late Mohammad Hossain of Shairardail of Matharbari in the Upazila.
The fisherman said he set his fishing net in the Kutubdia Channel on Tuesday night.
When he went to take back the net on Wednesday morning, he found it too heavy.
As Jamal reeled in the net with the help of others, he found a total of 81 poa fishes, each weighing 17kilo-25-kilo, got trapped in the net.
Later, fish trader Ishaque from Fisheryghat in Cox’s Bazar bought the fishes for Tk 40 lakh.
Locals said poa fish of such big size was never caught in the channel in the past. – GreenWatch Dhaka with UNB
