Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted a mobile court as part of its anti-adulteration drive at Moghbazar and Hatirpool areas in the city on Monday and fined three restaurants and a chain shop Tk 1.15 lakh on various charges.Mobile court executive magistrate Md Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury fined two restaurants –– Kasturi Hotel and Restaurant and Café De Taj — of Moghbazar for selling substandard food while Agora Super Store for selling adulterated food and Dhaka Food of Hatirpool for selling fruits laced with formalin.
Sources at the DMP Headquarters said Dhaka Food manager Md Mizan was fined Tk 30,000 while Agora store in-charge SM Nazim Tk 50,000, Kasturi manager Md Harun-ur-Rashid Tk 15,000 and Café De Taj manager Md Erfanur Rahman was fined Tk 20,000. – UNB
