Chess Olympiad: Bangladesh make draws in both open, women’s section

Dhaka – Bangladesh team settled for draw in the 6th round matches of both the open and women’s section of the 43rd World Chess Olympiad held at the Sports Place in Batumi in Georgia on Sunday.In the 6th round matches, Bangladesh open team played to a 2-2 with Chile while Bangladesh women’s team settled for 2-2 draw with Jamaica.

Bangladesh team earned 8 points from 6 matches in the open section while Bangladesh team earned 7 points from 6 matches in the women’s section.

In the 6th round matches of open section, Bangladeshi FM Mohammad Fahad Rahman (Rating-2263) beat IM Salinas Herrera Pablo (Rating-2486) of Chile; Bangladeshi GM Mollah Abdullah Al Rakib (Rating-2472) drew with GM Morovic Fernandez Ivan (Rating-2501); GM Enamul Hossain Razib (Rating-2452) drew with IM Garcia Cardenas Pablo (Rating-2444) while another GM Ziaur Rahman (Rating-2477) lost to GM Henriquez Villagra, Cristobal (Rating-2519).

In the 6th round matches of women’s section, WIM Rani Hamid (Rating 1909) beat CM Miller Rachel (Rating-1859) of Jamaica; WIM Shamima Akter Liza (Rating-2152) drew with Gray Krishna (Rating-1691); WFM Zakia Sultana (Rating-1838) drew with Williams Margoe (Rating-1617) while WFM Tanima Parveen (Rating-2022) lost to WCM Barrett Ariel (Rating-2064).

The 7th round matches of the both open and women’s sections scheduled for Monday (October 1).Bangladesh team is due to play against Turkmenistan in the open section while Bangladesh team scheduled to play Croatia in the women’s section.UNB
