Chinese businessman’s body found buried in Banani garden

Dhaka, Dec 11- A Chinese national’s body was recovered from a garden in Banani in the capital Wednesday. The man’s body was found buried in the garden of his apartment complex by the building’s gardener. The deceased was identified as Gaojain Hui, 47, a Chinese national and a stone supplier to the Padma bridge project, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) (Gulshan Division) Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Abdul Ahad.
Police were informed about the matter, following which the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Crime Scene unit went to the spot and dug out the body.
The caretaker of the 11-storey building informed police when he discovered something unusual under the ground, said Banani police OC Nur a Azam Mia.
“Police suspected the Chinese national might have been murdered sometime during the night,” said Mia before adding, they were gathering details on the incident.
“It has initially come to light that a part of the man’s name is ‘Gao’. The Chinese national lived with his family in house No. 82 on Banani’s Road No. 23,” Mia said.
Six persons have already been questioned in this connection, the police official said.
“His family went to China around 20 days ago. Domestic workers found the body buried next to the building in the morning and informed the police” said a police officer to the reporters at the scene.
“Members of the CID’s crime scene unit are investigating the matter but it is still unclear as to what had happened to the man,” he added. – Staff Reporter
