The popular fusion band Chirkutt performed a playback song for Arun Chowdhuri’s upcoming film, Mayaboti.
Director Arun Chowdhury’s film is set to be released nationwide on September 13. The film received an uncut censor certificate from the Bangladesh Film Censor Board in June.
The film features popular actor Nusrat Imrose Tisha as the protagonist, who is playing a lead role in a film for the first time.
The cast of the film also includes Mamunur Rashid, Raisul Islam Asad, Dilara Zaman, Aruna Biswas, and singer Agun, among others.
Penned and tuned by vocalist of the band Sharmin Sultana Shumi, the song Atkey Geche Mon was recorded at the band’s own studio in Niketan.
Last year, the band bagged the Channel-i Music Award in the Best Playback Music category for the song Ahare Jibon, recorded for Mostafa Sarwar Farooki’s film Doob.
On April 16, Chirkutt released the single Manush on their official YouTube channel, dedicating the song to Nusrat Jahan Rafi, a madrasa student who was burned to death after complaining of sexual harassment.
Chirkutt’s current line-up consists of Emon Chowdhury on guitar, Pavel Areen on drums, Sharmin Sultana Sumi on vocals, Didar on bass, and Nirab on keyboard.
