Chattagram Unnayan Andolon, a citizens’ platform, on Wednesday decided to endorse current Chittagong City Corporation mayor Monjurul Alam as a mayoral candidate for the upcoming CCC mayor election.
Andolon convener and Chittagong University teacher Prof Abul Kalam Azad announced this at a press conference at GEC Convention Centre in the port city.The press conference was also attended by Andolon member secretary Nurul Islam, its members Prof Dr Saleh Johur, Prof Dr Nasrul Kadir and Chittagong Bar Association former president Advocate Delowar Hossain.
Earlier, ruling Awami League endorsed AGM Nasir Uddin as a mayoral candidate for the CCC, slated for April 28. – UNB
