Coal import thru’ Tamabil, Sheola resumes Tuesday

Coal import from India through Tamabil and Sheola land stations will resume on Tuesday after its suspension for two weeks. Sylhet Coal Importers’ Group general secretary Chandan Saha said the coal import will resume from Tuesday as the crisis created over coal import has been resolved following a visit of a delegation of Coal Importers’ Group to India. Earlier, the Indian exporters suspended the supply from April 1 protesting the imposition of one percent tax on coal export by their government. A six-member delegation of the district’s Coal Importers’ group visited India to resolve the crisis over the coal import through discussions with the businesses there. Local businessmen said 70 percent fuel used in the country’s brick kilns is imported through the land stations of Sylhet. – UNB
