Commerce Minister visits erosion site of Teesta river

Commerce Minister GM Quader said the government has stepped up efforts
to build a new embankment at Rajpur union point to protect the people
from the erosion of Teesta river.
He made the announcement yesterday while visiting the erosion hit
areas of Teesta river at Rajpur union where 150 homesteads have been
devoured by the river since Sunday.
The minister appealed to the people at erosion site to cast their vote
in favour of present Mahajote government for continued peace and
development of the country.
“I am calling upon the people of the area to cast their vote for Grand
Alliance to come to power for the second time in the next general
election to finish the unfinished development work of the country,” he
said.
Quader said massive development works in different sectors have been
done for the people of Lalmonirhat.  “Development programme would
continue for the district in the future if Mahajote government comes
to power again”, he said.
Deputy commissioner Mohammad Habibur Rahman, SP Mohammad Habibur
Rahman Habib and Executive Engineer of Water Development Board,
Mohammad Enayetullah were present during the minister’s visit. – BSS,
