In the latest development, the government is going to form a committee soon to monitor overall conditions of the country’s readymade garments factories.The decision was taken at a meeting of the cabinet with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair on Monday.
Cabinet secretary Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan made the disclosure in a press briefing after the meeting at secretariat.
He said the committee will submit reports on garments factories’ working environment and building situation after inspection.
Necessary steps will be taken as per the committee report, he added.
Mosharraf Hossain said the committee will be led by a state minister and it will be comprised of high officials from home, labor, disaster management, forest and environment, defense, commerce, Jute and Textile ministries and Bank and finance division.
