Construction work of the Mongladob Bridge on a local canal at Mongladob point on the Kolkond-Tentultola-Betgari road in Gangachara upazila was inaugurated at a ceremony Saturday afternoon.After construction of the bridge, road communication between Kolkond and Betgari unions of the upazila will be improved significantly reducing distance by three kilometres and benefiting over 40 lakh people of the two backward unions and adjoining areas.Chairman of Kolkond union Mominur Rahman and Upazila Project Implementation Officer Matiur Rahman jointly inaugurated construction work of the reinforced cement concrete (RCC) bridge by laying down foundation in the ceremony.Union parishad members Rubina Begum, Rafikul Islam and Badal Roy,businessman AK Azad, representative of Construction Company ‘Messers Kamruzzaman Limited’ engaged for construction of the bridge Rezaul Karim Suruz were present.The District Relief and Rehabilitation Office through Gangachara Upazila Project Implementation Office has been implementing construction work of the 39 feet bridge at Taka 28 lakh under funding of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief.Talking to BSS today, District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Abdus Salam said the local people would have better road communication
