Tangail, Oct 16 (UNB) – Bodies of a couple who were engaged in an extramarital affair were found in Rafafoir village of Kalihati upazila in Tangail on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Shahjahan, 41, son of Based Mia and Aleya, 39, wife of Danes Mia. Locals said the duo were in an extramarital affair and fled together one and half months ago. They returned on Wednesday and a local arbitration was scheduled to be held on Thursday over the matter.
Aleya’s father said family members of Shahjahan’s in-laws had beaten up the duo on Thursday night and they remained missing since then.
Their bodies were found hanging at the cattle shed next morning, he said. Officer-in-charge of Kalihati Police Station, Sawgatul Alam said the bodies have been sent to hospital for autopsy. “After investigation we suspect that the couple committed suicide,” he said.
