Court stay on activities of BNP’s student wing JCD committee

Dhaka, Sept 23 – A Dhaka court yesterday passed a temporarily stay order on all kinds of activities of the newly formed committee of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD).It also issued show cause notice asking the newly elected JCD President Fazlur Rahman Khokon and Secretary General Iqbal Hossain Shyamal to explain within seven days on what authority they have secured the position of newly formed JCD committee.
Judge Nusrat Jahan Bithi of the fourth assistant judge’s court of Dhaka came up with the stay order and show cause notice in response to a petition filed by recently departing JCD central committee assistant religion affairs secretary Aman Ullah.
Earlier, on September 12, the same court issued an ad interim injunction on holding the council of JCD.
Aman Ullah in his appeal said that he had earlier purchased a nomination form for contesting for the post of the president of JCD but the election commission of the council cancelled his nomination paper without any reasonable ground.
The court also asked BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Almagir and nine others who cancelled the nomination of Aman to appear before it and submit a written objection to the injunction order in next seven days.
Earlier, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party announced the national council session of its student wing Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal will be held on September 14. Following the court order, the JCD new committee formed through secret election in accordance with their memorandum. – Staff Reporter
