Covid-19: BD records 2,548 new cases, 35 more deaths

The death toll from coronavirus in Bangladesh reached 2,836 on Friday with the death of 35 more patients in the last 24 hours as the number of tests came down.Besides, 2,548 new cases were detected in the last 24 hours testing 12,027 samples, taking the total cases to 218,658.
Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, came up with the disclosure at its daily health bulletin broadcast from Mohakhali.
The Health Ministry data show 1,768 patients have been cured of the infection, putting the total recovery to 120,976.
Global coronavirus situation
The total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus passed 15.5 million on Friday with over 633,449 recorded deaths, according to the tally kept by US-based Johns Hopkins University.
Coronavirus cases were first reported in China in December late last year in Wuhan.
The World Health Organization (WHO) declared it a pandemic on March 11.
It has spread to all corners of the world since then, reports UNB.
