Chittagong, Aug, 27: The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases has reached 16,764 as 74 new patients were diagnosed with the lethal virus. With today’s two deaths, the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) causality in Chattogram reached 269.
Civil surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi told BSS that among the total 16,764 coronavirus infected persons, 11,970 are the residents of the port city and the rest 4794 are residents of different Upazilas of the district.
A total of 74 people were detected positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours after testing 795 samples in five COVID-19 laboratories in Chattogram district.
Among the newly detected patients, 66 are from Chattogram city and eight from different Upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.
The total number of recovered patients from coronavirus rose to 4312 with the healing of 67 more people in the last 24 hours among the 16,764infected persons in the district till 2 pm today.
“The healed patients were discharged from different home isolations and Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the district as two consecutive real-time PCR tests found them negative,” he said.
A total of 4,632 patients are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals in the port city as 4,312 have recovered and 269 died while the rest 7,820 are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the city and district, he added.
