Cricket fans have clashed with police in Dhaka’s Mirpur following rumour that tickets for the Asia Cup final between Bangladesh and India were sold out.The Tigers will take on India in the final at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Sunday.A long queue had taken shape in front of the booth of United Commercial Bank Limited’s Mirpur-10 branch on Saturday morning.UCBL is in charge of selling the tickets. The sell was supposed to begin at 12pm.But cricket fans, standing in the queue for a long time, became agitated when rumours spread that there was ‘no ticket left’ and it was ‘available only on the black market’.

They then started hurling bricks at the bank and vandalised vehicles on the road, Mirpur police OC Bhuiyan Mahbub Hossain told bdnews24.com.He said several persons were detained for causing the ruckus. “We’re trying to bring the situation under control.”Television footages showed police were shooting teargas shells and rubber bullets to disperse the agitators.Ticket seekers have alleged irregularities in selling process.The Tigers fans are excited about the final of the first-ever Twenty20 Asia Cup as their team defeated both Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the league stage.Media reports also say that many lament shortage of tickets of the final match.
