Cricketer Shakib Al-Hasan meets ACC chief

Bangladesh’s iconic cricket all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, also a goodwill ambassador of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), visited the ACC headquarters in the city on Sunday.

“It was a courtesy meeting of Shakib with ACC chairman Iqbal Mahmood. He came here to discuss a pre-fixed issue,” said ACC’s public relations officer (PRO) Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya.

“What happened to Shakib is really sad. However, he admitted his mistake which demonstrates his high sense of morality,” the ACC chairman was quoted as saying.

“We want Shakib in our anti-corruption programmes in the future, too. Hope, he’ll be with us as before,” he added.

Shakib has been working as the ACC goodwill ambassador since last year to campaign against corruption.

His visit comes four days after the International Cricket Council (ICC) banned him from all forms of cricket for two years, with one year of that suspended, after he accepted three charges of breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code.
