Daily Sangbad Acting Editor Muniruzzaman dies

Khandaker Muniruzzaman, the acting editor and columnist of Daily Sangbad, has died while undergoing treatment for coronavirus at a city hospital at the age of 72.

He passed away at 7:40am on Tuesday at Mugda Medical College Hospital, according to his family. He was suffering from various health-related complications. His Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at 3pm at the National Press Club, according to Daily Sangbad.

Muniruzzaman was undergoing treatment at his Shantinagar residence after testing positive for Covid-19. He was hospitalised on Oct 31 and was in intensive care for around two weeks.

He had been the acting editor of Sangbad since 2003. Leaders of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists, Dhaka Union of Journalists, National Press Club and Dhaka Reporters’ Unity have expressed grief over his demise.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of the Daily Sangbad acting editor.

The Prime Minister prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.
