Daulatdia-Paturia ferry services yet to be normal

Dhaka – Ferry services on Daulatdia-Paturia route were yet to return to normalcy on Tuesday after the landing stations of four ferry terminals were devoured by mighty Padma River three days ago, causing sufferings to commuters.The movement of Ro-Ro ferries remained halted while small vehicles were being ferried using utility ferries after the authorities concerned managed to repair No-3 ghat of the landing stations,UNB News Agency Reported.However, no heavy vehicles, including buses and goods-laden trucks,could be ferried.The repair work on the No 2 and No 4 ghats were going on, Nizam Uddin Pathan, executive engineer of Aricha BIWTA, said, adding that the repair work will be completed by the next two days.Sheikh Mohammad Nasim, Aricha section DGM of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), said the ferry services on the Daulatdia-Paturia route mainly remained suspended for the last three days.The authorities were doing repair works of two ferry ghats by placing sand sacks, bamboo and logs while the Roads and Highways Department were constructing the approach road of the ghats, he said.
