A specialised and full- fledged child-friendly Eye Unit was
inaugurated at Deep Eye Care Foundation (DECF) Hospital here on Monday
to provide eye treatments to the children of Rangpur region.
The specialised Eye Unit was launched with the assistances of the
ORBIS International to reduce child blindness through providing
necessary treatments and conducting operations of the poorer section
child eye patients.
Deputy Commissioner Farid Ahammad inaugurated the unit at a colourful
ceremony organised on the occasion with Chairman of DECF M A Halim in
the chair.
Civil Surgeon Dr Reajul Islam, Programme Director of the ORBIS
International fro Asia Dr Abu Raihan, its Country Director Dr Munir
Ahmed, and noted eye specialists Dr Abdus Sattar and Dr Roksana Afroz
Soma addressed as the special guests.
Executive Director of DECF and renowned eye specialist Dr Khairul
Islam Deep delivered the welcome speech narrating activities of the
financially self-supporting foundation that provides services to the
rich and poor alike.
He also elaborated the principle of DECF to serve the suffering
humanity through providing high quality, large volume care and a
well-organized quality services to the patients at price that everyone
can afford.
The speakers highly appreciated the DECF initiative and assistances
being provided by the ORBIS International in launching the specialised
unit.
