Dhaka – Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Shafiqul Islam on Thursday said police have started making a list of casinos as no gambling would be allowed in the capital.“There’ll be no casino in Dhaka. Casino owners and their associates will be brought to book, no matter how influential they are,” he said. The DMP Commissioner came up with the warning while talking to reporters at the DMP Headquarters in the city.
His warning followed the arrest of Mahmud Bhuiyan, organising secretary of Dhaka South city unit of Jubo League, from Gulshan area on Wednesday evening for running an illegal casino inside Fakirerpool Youngmen’s Club.
Besides, three other casinos in Banani, Motijheel and Gulistan areas were sealed off, and 182 people detained from two casinos on the day.
The DMP Commissioner said if the involvement of any member of law enforcement agencies is found in the casino business action will be taken against him or her, too.UNB
