Dhaka international film Festival begins

The 27th Dhaka international Film Festival -2019  begins today with organisers saying they would screen 220 movies from 72 countries during the week-long event to be ended on January 18.Rainbow Film Society, which organizes the festival for the last 27 years in Dhaka, in a statement said they chose to stage the festival this year with a slogan — “Aesthetic movies , thoughtful viewers , enlightened society”.
It said the Censor Board by now approved the movies for screening while  the films would be shown in a number of sessions under different categories at different venues.
The Society labeled the movies as Asian competition category Retrospective category , Bangladesh Panorama , Cinema of the World , Children’s Film , Spiritual Films ,Independent Films and Women’s Films.
The movies would be shown in Shawkat Osman Memorial Auditorium of Central Public Library , Begum Sufia Kamal Auditorium and Main Auditorium of National Museum, Blockbuster Cinema and Alliance Francaise.
The Society said the festival was expected to draw a number of international filmmakers, critics and journalists from over 60 countries alongside their Bangladesh counterparts.
