Dhaka, Mar 14 : Dhaka Premier League begins on May 6 in T20 format The Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League will begin on May 6.The league will be played in the T20 format for the first time, confirmed Kazi Inam Ahmed, chairman of Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM).
Also, it will be the first regular domestic competition of Bangladesh after the Covid-19 hiatus.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) hosted two special domestic events – BCB President’s Cup and Bangabandhu T20 Cup – in the later part of 2020.
The last edition of the Dhaka League was called off after the first round of games due to the Covid-19 pandemic and is all set to be resumed in a new format.
“We hope to start the Dhaka League on May 6,” Inam told the media on Sunday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
“It was difficult to find out a window for the Dhaka League as the national team will remain busy this year. Still, we found out a window and discussed it with all 12 clubs who are going join the competition.”
The participating clubs have completed a partial payment of the players roped in by them. So the board has decided to continue the league with unchanged squads.
