Diplomats of 18 foreign missions urge end to pol conflict

Diplomats of 17 countries and the European Union (EU) based in Dhaka on Sunday reiterated their call to end violence in the interest of stability, human rights and democracy.
The diplomats stationed in Dhaka on Sunday called for an end to the current violence recalling their previous statements on events in Bangladesh, and those by the UN.
The diplomats, including ambassadors, high commissioners and charge d’ Affaires, met Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali and made the call.They encouraged confidence-building measures – including the de-escalation of Bangladesh’s political conflict – in the interest of fostering safety, stability, growth, human rights and democracy in Bangladesh.
The diplomats also discussed the current events in Bangladesh, according to a media release jointly issued by Australia, Canada, Denmark, EU, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Republic of Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States. – Agencies
