Division round of National Earth Olympiad in Barisal

The divisional round of National Earth Olympiad 2013 (NEO 13) on
environmental and earth science held in Barisal Friday to spread
knowledge on geology, meteorology, terrestrial astronomy and
environmental sciences.
The programme held at Udyan School auditorium of the city followed by
a discussion meeting and prize giving ceremony presided over by Awlad
Hossain Rakib, coordinator of the organizing committee and conducted
by Rashed Imam, activist of Bangladesh Youth Environmental Initiative
(BYEI).
Among others Prof. M. Moazzem Hussain, educationist, Bro. Albert
Ratna, acting headmaster of the school, Akkas Hossain, cultural
activists, Shamir Shihab, national committee member, Abdullah Sakil,
project coordinator of BIYEI.
The speakers hailing the arrangements said it could play vital role in
developing knowledge on geology, meteorology, terrestrial astronomy,
and environmental sciences among the youths.
The organizers said students from class 8 to class 12 participated in
the competition.
Kazi Abu Sayeed, Md. Shariar Mia, Sultana Kamal Moni, as first, second
, third according to the marks obtained in  a 60 minutes exam with 80
MCQ questions in the Barisal divisional round.
First 25 participants will participate in the national round scheduled
to be held at Dhaka on Dhaka on 5th July to compete with competitors
selected from seven divisions all over Bangladesh.
National level winners of NEO’13 will get the chance for 1-month long
training with geosciences and environmental experts and would be flown
to India to represent Bangladesh in this year’s IESO
2013(International Earth Science Olympiad), they informed.
